At Bio Mechanix, we work on a structured rehabilitation process to ensure we manage your injury recovery to best suit your needs. We start with consultation and assessment, which is followed by the induction phase which involves teaching, demonstrating and educating you about your recovery plan. We then move onto rehabilitation intervention which is broken down into phases to reach your individual goals.
The entire process can last anywhere from 1 month to 12 months. It all depends on the injury, its severity and the speed at which your body recovers.
Let's take a closer look at each phase.
Phase 1: Initial Assessment & Evaluation
The assessment and consultation is a ‘fact-finding mission’ in which all the necessary factors relating to the injury are discussed, measured and compiled into a summary of findings that will guide the rehabilitation process.
We Cover The Following During Evaluation:
- History of the injury and training
- Observation of posture and movement patterns
- Palpation of all affected areas
- Specialised tests to support clinical findings
We then analyse the above information will help us define the goals & outcomes of the rehabilitation intervention, namely:
- Pain (minimise)
- Functional Ability (maximise)
- Musculoskeletal and biomechanical insufficiencies (correct)
The evaluation phase usually lasts for 1 to 2 sessions depending on your individual needs.

Phase 2: Induction
The induction phase is used to educate and empower our patient about their custom rehabilitation process, demonstrate scientifically supported exercises, and provide further advice on injury management. This phase is also used to test and adjust the appropriate load applications to ensure an effective training prescription.
The Following Techniques Will Be Taught In This Phase:
- Fundamental Movements
- Activation Patterns
- Mobility Techniques
- Exercise form
Induction typically lasts between 4 to 6 sessions depending on individual patient needs.
Phase 3: The Road To Recovery
The final stage of rehabilitation is broken down into various phases which consists of a series of supervised exercise sessions. During these sessions, our qualified Biokineticists will ensure each exercise is performed with precise form and the appropriate load. To get the most benefit out of this phase we recommend 2-3 sessions/week, and each stage lasts 4-6 weeks.
Once measurable outcomes are achieved, you will graduate to the next phase where new goals are set, and exercises are progressed. Once the final goals are met we consider the intervention successful, i.e. You are recovered!
Our Rehabilitation phase is outcome-driven and evidence-based which, as research has shown, is the most effective approach to rehabilitating most injuries.
While exercise is not the only form of rehabilitation, it is considered to be the most conservative and as a result, one of the safest methods. It is also scientifically proven to be one of the primary interventions to have a lasting impact on the long term outcomes of many orthopaedic conditions.
With proven results and backed by scientific methodology, our team at Bio Mechanix is confident we can help you manage your injury and assist recovery.
